Fireworks
a FAKE story

N-no, wait a second," he gasped, "I think I'm going to sneeze." Ryo MacLean covered his nose and mouth with a tissue. "He-chhuu! Heh- Cchhuu! Eh-shhuu! He-cchhii!" He sniffled and wiped his nose.

Dee straightened up, looking worried, "hey, should you even be out here with that cold of yours? The snow can't be doing it any favors."

"I'm fine," Ryo smiled at his partner and slipped his cold hand into Dee's warm one, "in fact, I'm perfect right now. He-Shhuu! Heh-Eh- chhhuu! Ah-Chhii!"

Dee squeezed Ryo's hand comfortingly, "Bless you. You really don't sound very fine to me. Maybe we should just forget about this whole thing and get you home. What do you say?"

Ryo shook his head stubbornly, "no, we agreed we were going to do this, and I really want to, please," he turned his appealing black eyes up to Dee, "let's just stay?"

Dee pulled the slightly shorter man into his arms, trying to warm him, "ok, we'll stay. I know how much you've been looking forward to this." He grazed Ryo's cheek with his lips, breathing the scent of the aftershave that was so familiar to him. "But you're shivering. Ryo, we should at least go wait in the car until it's time."

Ryo again shook his head, snuggling closer to Dee, Ryo's back toward him and his head leaning against Dee's broad shoulder, so that he could gaze up at the sky, "nope, I'm happy just like this. He- Cchhii! Heh-eh-shhhuu! Eh-chhuu! Cchhiiuu!" Ryo blew his nose, looking up at Dee apologetically, "sorry."

Dee smiled warmly, "Bess you. You don't have to be sorry, you couldn't help it. Oh, it's starting."

The fireworks display was beautiful. Well worth the hour's drive to the field and the hour's drive back. Dee could feel Ryo's enjoyment with every gasp he took, and held him closer because of it. As they were heading back to Dee's car, Ryo smiled at his lover happily, "thanks for taking me. I loved that." He took a sharp breath, as if he were going to sneeze, but Dee suddenly wrapped his arms around him, kissing Ryo so powerfully, but so tenderly, that all thoughts of sneezing went out of Ryo's head as he returned the kiss.

Dee grinned at his partner, "if I'd known that it was that easy to make you stop, I would have been doing that as soon as you caught this bug."

Ryo took Dee's arm and put it around his own shoulder, "yeah, well now you're going to be sick too."

"If I am, will you take me to a fireworks show?"

Ryo laughed, "sure Dee. Let's go home. I can't wait to have some more of that soup of yours. You never told me you could cook."

Dee laughed nervously, "actually, it's from a can."

Ryo laughed as he got into Dee's car and turned the heater up full blast. "He-chhuu! Chhuu! Heh-eh-chhhii!"

Dee took Ryo's hand in his own, "Bless you again Baby. Your hand is like ice. We'll get you into a nice warm bath when we get home."

Ryo blushed a little, knowing what Dee meant, "yeah, that would be nice." He squeezed the warm hand and dozed off, enjoying the ride home and thinking about what would happen when they got there.

Nope, not mine. As if anyone would pay for this anyway. This ficlet was inspired by the week 10 plot hatching and DOES have spoilers on Dee and Ryo's relationship. I just finished the series and I am on such a big FAKE kick, it's not even funny.
