Something in the Air
a Gravitation story
by Aimee

Shuichi Shindou bounced out of the cab like an rubber ball that escaped a child's hands; no sense of direction and dangerously fast. Yuki Eiri paid the cab driver and slid off the seat in the complete opposite of his bouncing lover.

"Yuki, Yuki!" Shuichi jumped next to Eiri, waving his arms around excitedly. Thankfully they were in America, more so New York City, and no one paid any attention to the pink-haired singer. "Look at this place! Everything is so big!"

"Yeah, I guess." Yuki fumbled in the pocket of his jacket and pulled out his pack of cigarettes and a lighter. He lifted his eyes to watch as Shuichi looked around Central Park, his deep purple eyes sparkling as they tried to take in all the sights without blinking.

Eiri smiled to himself as he placed a cigarette between his lips and light the tip, inhaling the first puff of smoke slowly. It was only a few weeks ago that the novelist told his lover after Bad Luck's tour of Japan that Eiri would take him somewhere where just the two of them could spend some time together. Out of the blue, Shuichi suggested New York since last time he was there it was to bring Eiri home. "This way we can go without a bad reason!" The singer had told him, bouncing around on the bed when they had tried to decide where to go. Eiri wasn't up for any more Shuichi-induced headaches and thus agreed to take him to New York.

Everything seemed perfect to Shuichi. The weather was to die for, a beautiful spring morning that sent his already excited mind into a whirlwind of bliss. The sky was a perfect shade of blue, not too dark and not too light. A few wispy clouds lazed their way across the sky, the sun shining bright on Shuichi's smiling face. With a content sigh, he closed his eyes and smiled wider. Everything was so perfect.

"Hmp-TCH!"

Opening his eyes and turning to his site, Shuichi's smile slowly started to fade when he heard Eiri next to him and more still when he seen the blonde's face half-hidden in the crook of his arm.

"Yuki?" Shuichi's eyes filled with tears, going right over to his lover and tugging on the arm of his coat. "Are you getting sick?"

Eiri growled and tugged his arm free of the clinging kid. "You idiot, it was just one sn...sneeze..." Eiri turned his head to the side, his golden eyes shut tightly. A few quick breaths escaped him before he bent slightly at his waist and sneezed hand into one of his hands. "H'TCCHT!"

"Yuuukiii!!" Shuichi began to pull at his arm once more, his face a portrait of worry. "You are sick! We should get you in right away to relax and feel better!"

Sniffing lightly, Eiri tore his arm back and glared down to the singer. "I'm not sick! Let's just get something to eat, I'm starved." Pulling a fresh cigarette from his pack, the other tossed to the ground after the sudden sneeze, he was just about to place it in his mouth before the itching began to build. At first the two sneezes came from what seemed out of nowhere. He wouldn't even have noticed them if Shuichi hadn't made a deal out of them. It was the constant itching and burning he was now paying attention to. One of his hands moved to his face and tried his best to rub away the itch without freaking out Shuichi.

"Are you sure? Because we could go to the hotel and eat there and you can rest! And-and, we could call a doctor, but you would have to because I don't speak english... I'm so sorry Yuuuuuuukii!!"

"Would you shut up!" Eiri turned, insanely irritated at this point. The itching wasn't going away and at this point he couldn't tell which was more annoying, his nose or his lover. "I said I'm fine, let's just go!" Shuichi shrunk back and shut his mouth for the time being. Eiri sighed and placed a hand on top of the pink fluff of hair. "Listen, I'm alright, let's just go, ok?"

Shuichi nodded gently and Eiri gave him his best smile, that only lasted a moment anyway. As they began to walk through the park, Eiri watched as Shuichi focused on the things around him and was glad of it when the itching came back. He lifted his forefinger under his nose and gave it a few good rubs. It didn't help him one bit, and instead he found his eyes lightly closing as his breath began to hitch. His hand flattened against his face as he was forced to surrender into the feeling. "Haat-TCHT! KCCT! Haaa'TCCCH!"

Instead of saying anything, Shuichi turned around, his bright eyes looking up to his Eiri with concern. Sure it was just sneezing, but he hardly ever seen Eiri sneeze at all and now they were just coming out freely. Shuichi almost laughed, seeing Eiri doing such a normal thing like sneezing wasn't something that happened all the time. He did have his godly stature to live up to and all.

Eiri sighed heavily and sniffed hard. He knew something was wrong, he just didn't go around sneezing like that for no reason. He looked down at Shuichi through lightly watered eyes, which he quickly blinked away. "What?"

"I don't think you're fine, Yuki!" Shuichi frowned deeply, earning him a sigh. "Maybe it's something in the air? Do you have allergies?"

"Of course I don't, stupid!" Eiri scoffed and sniffed some more. He then noticed it. All around the park were vibrantly colored flowers and the scent was very potent. He had lived there when he was younger and it never bothered him, why now? "I don't know...maybe..." His last word was slightly higher pitched, his hand moving in front of his face again. Instead of calling more attention to him, he squeezed his thumb and index finger over his nose and tried to hold the assault back. "hh'kxxt! Hkktt! Uhhh..." Realizing that did nothing but make his inflamed sinuses hurt even more, he released his nose with a sigh.

"You shouldn't do that." Shuichi frowned, eyebrows shifting down. "You'll hurt yourself or something."

Just as Eiri opened his mouth to argue with him, both hands came to his face to cub his nose and mouth. "Aa'TCCHT! TCCH-Tcht! Ha...'TCCHH!" Sniffing hard, he could feel his nose start to run, and his golden gaze looked up at Shuichi. "Blease tell be you haff sumb tissues?"

Shuichi frowned for a second in thought and pulled the yellow bookbag around to his front, frantically looking through it. "I don't usually...Oh! Here!" He pulled out an old pack of tissues he had carried around with him once when he caught a cold on tour, and left them in there since. He pulled out a few and handed them to Eiri who blew his nose hard into the soft fabric. "Maybe we can get you some medicine or something?"

"Doe..." Clearing his throat and blowing his nose harder again, he corrected his stuffed speech. "No, I'll be fine." Rolling his golden eyes, he realized the itching in his nose wouldn't go away, no matter how many times he blew. Finally giving into the feeling and trying to get out whatever was attacking his sinuses, his lips parted gently, inhaling sharply before burying his nose into the tissue once more. "Haa... Ha'TCCH! Haa'CCH! CCHHT! HCC-tssst!" With another groan, he parted his face from the now shredded and destroyed tissue, he was greeted with a clean one and a softly smiling Shuichi. The singer placed the soft tissue on Eiri's nose, earning him the start of a glare. Instead he watched as Eiri's brows relaxed, moved upwards as his eyes began to close. Eiri's hand shot to the tissue, trapping Shuichi's hand and sneezing hard. "HA-TCHHHHT!" Groaning, he grabbed the tissue and blew his nose! hard, hoping to get whatever it was attacking him out. "Are you happy? Now I hope you have snot on you."

Shuichi rubbed his hands on his pants at the thought and frowned. "You are so mean, Yuki! I was just trying to help."

The blonde turned and almost felt sorry until another sneeze snuck up on him, making him sneeze freely into the air. "Ha'Tccht! Thhhccht!" Sniffing, her rubbed the tissue across his nose and stood up straight. "Alright, thank you for your help. Can we please get out of here now?"

Shuichi laughed and got up on his toes and kissed Eiri's lips gently. "Alright, we'll go to lunch, but if you keep sneezing, I'm making you get something for it."

Eiri sighed and pushed Shuichi back down, continuing their walk. "I swear, I do something nice for you and all it does is cause me misery."

I don't own them, the amazing Maki Murakami-Sama does! :D
I guess this happened after the anime, so no spoilers for the manga. ^^! And I'm sadistic against Yuki Eiri because I love him so much. *G*
