Common Scents
a Weiß Kruez story
by Aimee

"Hey, Kaori!"

The dark haired girl turned away from the flower shop window as he best friend, Koto came running to her. "Did you get it?"

Panting, slightly out of breath, the younger of the two dug in her bookbag and pulled out a small red bottle. "Yeah, I don't think my mom will miss it if I put it back before she gets home." Koto gave a sweet smile as she handed over the bottle.

"This is great. Thanks!" Kaori opened the top and waved it under her nose. "Wow! This smells so nice. And so...adult." The two girls giggled for a moment before Kaori dubbed some behind her ears, neck, and wrists. "There. How do I smell?"

Koto leaned forward and sniffed softly, "Oh! Very good. But..." Turning her head to the shop, the massive amount of flowers made her frown. "Maybe you should put a little more on? I mean, the shop is always really floral smelling and he might not notice it then."

With a mirroring frown, Kaori nodded. "Good point." A few more dabs here and there, all across the skin that her school-girl uniform would allow was now streaked over with the perfume. "Ok, how's that?"

Koto moved away a bit, biting back a laugh. "I think that's enough now."

"Great!" Handing the bottle back to her best-friend, Kaori fluffed her shoulder-length hair and walked into the flower shop. "Now, watch the magic." She told Koto out of the corner of her mouth, once she spotted her ‘love interest'.

"Aya-san!"

Without turning from the window he was currently washing, Aya recognized the voice of one of the many schoolgirls that came in and hounded him. He really didn't feel like dealing with them now, or pretty much ever.

"What?" His voice was low, almost an irritated tone. He seen a flash of color appear close to his side, violet eyes still unmoving from the rag in his hand as it went up and down the glass.

"How are you today? You look very nice." Kaori beamed up at him, standing as close as she could without freaking him out too much.

"Thanks." Aya turned to see the dark haired girl that had came after him a few times, hell if he could remember her name. "Look, I'm busy. Either buy something or get out." He sighed and went to pick up the bottle of glass cleaner he set down on the floor.

Almost suddenly, a twitching feeling in his nose struck when he stood back up, using his rag-holding hand to rub the underside of his nose with his wrist. Brushing off the feeling as something that usually happened when working around so many flowers, he went over to the other window, girl still in toe.

"Well, I was going to buy something!" Kaori smiled wider, not affected at all by Aya's harsh tone to get out, she often heard that line at least twice a day. "See, I wanted to get something for someone very special to me..."

Kaori went on about flowers, but Aya's mind began to drift back to that persistent tickle in his nose. He mentally cursed when he figured where it was leading up to. Hoping that a small sniff would stop it, or put it off, was hope wasted. His eyes snapped closed, mouth opening slightly before turning his head sharply to the side, his hands were still currently full and wasn't about to drop everything for an annoying sneeze.

"Hii'tscht... K'tsccht!" Two managed to escape, the force making his body shake slightly.

"...kind I would... Aya-san?" Kaori stopped her long confession of love before noticing the soft sneezing. "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine." Aya growled out the words, irritated more now since the itch wasn't letting up just yet. He walked over to the counter and put the rag and window cleaner down just in time to cup his hands over his nose and mouth as he gave into the sensation once more.

"Ihh...H'tsccht! Tssht-h'tschu!" Each followed one after another, growing with desperation. "Huhh'TSCHHht..." Taking a long breath, he sniffed gently, both eyes and nose were starting to gather wetness.

"Aya-san! Are you ok?" Now almost scared, Kaori clasped her hands in front of her chest, looking like Aya could have keeled over if he didn't stop sneezing.

"Aya?" Omi picked his head up from the other side of the shop when the outburst of mostly quiet sneezing started. Walking over to his leader, he pulled a soft fresh handkerchief out of his back pocket. "What's the matter?"

Aya eyed the cloth dangerously, almost hoping under his intense gaze it would burt into flames. "I'm fi...fine..." He lowered his hands, rubbing under his nose to try and ward off some of the itching to stress his point better. All the rubbing hard done, really, was make the itching grow worse. With one hand he caught the next wave, "Hiihh'tsccht! K'Tcht! Hiihh...Tscht!"

"You don't sound like it." Ken now piped up, all the store now looking over at the red-head.

Kaori looked around nervously as people began to look at Aya, whispering quietly. Her eyes widened and looked to the one she admired and made a grab for his arm, after taking the handkerchief that Omi was still holding out. "Come on!"

Aya would have stopped the pulling had the fit waited, but perfect timing he couldn't resist. "S...sto..hihh..." His breath hitched sharply, one watering eye opened to see himself being dragged out the back door. "I..don... Hiih'Tscchu! Uhh... stop!"

As soon as he was outside, he yanked his arm free, just when the soft cloth was presented in his hand. Without a second thought, the cloth was brought to his face, both hands supporting the cloth to his nose.

"Ihh'tsccht! H'Tsccht!... Hii'TSCHT! Uhh...Hih'tschh!" He managed to half-muffle some of them, really feeling embarrassed by the whole thing. Not to add that the three other members of Weiß had came out of the shop to see what was up.

"A-Aya-san..." Kaori frowned harder, really worried at this point. A small line of tears had began to run down his cheeks, body now jerking with each sneeze.

"What's wrong with you?" Youji stood last at the door, placing a hand on his hip as he looked at Aya through the top of his sunglasses.

Omi rubbed the back of his neck, watching Aya rub at his nose with the handkerchief, one fisted hand rubbing his eyes. "Looks like you are allergic to something. Normally when you have a cold you don't sneeze that...hysterically."

"I...I'm not sick." Aya wiped his nose a few times, not furthering his embarrassment by blowing. "I don't...hiih... Don't know wha... HUH'TSCHMF! ...H'Tschh! Uhh... Huh'TSSCHT!"

"Oh no." Kaori gasped softly, stepping back from Aya whom she had been toe to toe with the whole time.

"What's the matter, Miss Kaori?" Omi turned to the girl looking curious.

The short girl shook her head, almost on the verge of tears. "I... I am wearing some perfume."

"Phew! Is that what that was?" Youji waved his hand through the air, noticing the thick smell as soon as he stepped outside. It smelled like something that was good for covering up other scents with it's over-powering odor.

Kaori stepped back a few more feet, looking up to Aya who was still rubbing at his nose, opening his eyes slightly at her. "I... I only wore it to... I'm sorry." Turning around, she headed back into the store, defeated.

"I'll go try and cheer her up." Omi said, rushing back inside.

Aya sniffed and pulled the cloth back from his nose, which had turned a slight pink color that matched his cheeks, a little flushed. "So both...uh...bothersome..." With a soft sniff after, his head ducked back into his cupped hands, covering with the cloth once more, "Hihh'Tscch! Uhh...'TSCHhht! Huuhh..." Rubbing at his nose brought the last powerful one out, sinuses desperate to get the irritation out, "HUH'TSCCHM!"

"Well, this isn't surprising." Youji laughed softly, turning to Ken with a half-whisper. "To think that Aya would be allergic to women."

Not mine. Would be nice if they were. Meow!
Here's some fun word-play, "Kaori" means "scent/aroma". Hehe. Don't ask why this is my 2nd ‘perfume allergy' fic, the first one I wrote like...in 5 minutes just to write and I thought it was blah, but this one I love. ^_^ And dedicated to Tarotgal. :) For lots of reasons. ^^ Plus! She got me into Weiß as well. :D
